Naperville women reviving effort to get Equal Rights Amendment passed in Illinois

Illinois is one 14 states in America that never ratified the ERA, and several dozen members from the four Naperville organizations will appeal to their state representatives and senators to resuscitate the amendment.

“We all want to see this pass. We’ve all been working together and meeting with elected officials,” said Becky Simon, events chairwoman for League of Women Voters Naperville. “They (elected officials) have been very accessible. I think that’s one of the great things about Naperville officials; we’ve been able to contact them and talk with them.”

They also plan to discuss closing the pay gap with their elected officials, she said.
